Helena Vissing, Psy.D. is based in Los Angeles where she is specializing in maternal mental health from psychoanalytic and somatic perspectives. Helena works in private practice in West Los Angeles, doing psychotherapy and Sandplay therapy. Helena is also Adjunct Faculty at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Antioch University. Her teaching experience include courses in Child and Adolescent Development, Play Therapy, Sandplay Therapy, Ethics, and Psychodynamic theories. Helena is also faculty on the Training Committee for Maternal Mental Health NOW and on the Research Sub-committee. Helena has experience working as a School Psychologist in her home country Denmark. She moved to Los Angeles in 2010. She has completed a 2 year pre-doctoral internship at the C.G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles. She has also published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on contemporary psychoanalytic perspectives on cultural representations of motherhood and body image issues related to motherhood. Helena is president-elect for Sec III (Women and Gender) of the Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the American Psychological Association.
