Dr. Grote’s research is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and focuses on 1) adapting evidence-based models of depression care to be relevant both to the culture of poverty and to the culture of race or ethnicity, 2) developing an engagement strategy, based on motivational and ethnographic interviewing, to engage and retain difficult-to-reach individuals with depression into mental health care, and 3) disseminating effective treatments for antenatal depression in the Seattle-King County public health system.
