IPT Community-Based Training and Certification

IPT Institute Community-Based Training and Certification has been developed specifically for community agencies and practitioners, and has been empirically demonstrated to lead to high quality practice of IPT.  Completion of Community-Based Training in IPT results in "IPT Certified Therapist" designation.  Community-Based Training requirements are:

 

COMMUNITY-BASED THERAPIST TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION IN IPT

PREREQUISITES

  • Familiarity with the IPT manual (1)

  • Professional clinical training in mental health

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

1) Completion of an IPT Institute accredited two-day Level A IPT Course

2) Completion of at least 10 biweekly hour-long group consultation calls

3) Completion of two IPT portfolios (one portfolio for each of two different clients)

    Each portfolio is reviewed by an IPT Institute expert using the IPT Quality and Adherence Measure

    Each portfolio must include:

     a) Case Report of the IPT treatment

     b) Interpersonal Inventory of Circle

     c) Interpersonal Formulation or Summary

     d) Self-Evaluation Form (based on the IPT Quality and Adherence Measure)

     e) Patient Outcome Measures (PHQ-9 administered at baseline and every 4 sessions to the end of treatment)

     f) An audio or videotape of one session which meets standards for quality and adherence

4) Completion of a one-day IPT Booster Course

5) Participation in ongoing Advanced IPT Training at least every 3 years
