Xavier Vincent Pereira is a psychiatrist based in the greater Kuala Lumpur area. He is currently an associate professor and head of discipline of psychiatry at Taylor's University School of Medicine, Malaysia. He is co-founder and director, and director of mental health services of Health Equity Initiatives, a community based organization that serves the mental health needs of asylum seekers and refugees in the greater Kuala Lumpur area. He is also the founder chair of the Catholic Counsellors and Therapists of Malaysia.
Xavier is at present the global chair of the subsection of IPT with Cultural Adaptations under the section of psychotherapy of the World Psychiatric Association. He is also a member of the dissemination committee of the ISIPT.
He has been training mental health professionals in IPT in collaboration with the IPT Institute, USA as a trainer and supervisor.
