Course Description

This course is designed to instruct participants in the advanced use of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for Grief and Loss.  The course will consist of didactic presentations and participant interactions.  Interspersed in the presentation will be videotapes of the course director and other experts conducting IPT.  Group discussion, role-playing and review of participant videotapes will help to synthesize the information and examples presented.

This course serves BOTH as the capstone of Community-Based Training and Certification and as an Advanced Course in IPT.  Participants MUST have completed Level A Training in IPT to enroll in this class.

Both class sessions will be in four-hour blocks from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM Central Daylight Time.  Please be SURE that you have the correct time for your home location.

Advanced Training in IPT

Educational Objectives:
This CE Course is targeted towards all clinicians who have completed Level A Training. The instructional level is advanced.

At the conclusion of this course, the participant should be able to:

1) Treat complex patients using IPT principles
2) Identify different attachment styles
3) Identify ways to adapt IPT to various attachment styles
4) Create an Interpersonal Formulation and Summary for a complex patient.
5) Conduct a communication analysis
6) Conduct a Role Play
7) Conduct the conclusion of IPT and maintenance treatment
8) Work with patients with grief and loss issues

Schedule:
8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on each of two days

Cost:
$300 per person
