IPt for Grief and Loss: Getting on the Path of Healing with an IPT Tool for
Grief and Loss

thursday June 15, 2023 09:00- 10:30

SESSION DESCRIPTION

Grief and loss are frequently addressed concerns in psychotherapy.  While the problem areas of interpersonal disputes and role transitions each have a designated clinical tool to help guide these modules of the therapy, no such tool exists for grief/loss in the IPT manual.  In this workshop participants will be introduced to the Crossroads of Grief and Loss.  IPT therapists can utilize this new tool to help their clients process grief experiences and problem solve how to elicit social support in their healing process.  Clinical vignettes will be provided to demonstrate how the tool can be utilized collaboratively by therapist and client to process grief associated with death and other interpersonal losses. Additionally, participants will have an opportunity to practice use of this tool by breaking into small groups and role-playing the exercise.

The session will include interactive discussion and participant role playing as well as observations of experts demonstrating supervision techniques.
