A New IPT Tool: Power, Influence and Acceptance Zones

SESSION DESCRIPTION
In this session, Dr. Soares-Monteiro will present a new IPT tool to help empower the patient to face their interpersonal problems, with a focus on what they can control (fully or partially) and accepting without expectations what they cannot. The presentation is based in stoic philosophy, and published in his new book of 2023, “We change by what we do“.
The session will include interactive discussion and participant role playing as well as observations of experts demonstrating supervision techniques.

Ivandro Soares Monteiro, PhD, MSc. is a Clinical Psychologist, IPT Psychotherapist and University Professor at ICBAS (School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Portugal). He is the founder and Director of a mental health clinic EME HEALTH and founder of the Portuguese Academy of Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
