This course is the 1st part of the Community-Based IPT Training program.  The course is a 2-day Level A Training Introduction to IPT.  All participants are welcome.

 

Course Description

Level A Basic Training in IPT (Two Days)

Participants will learn the basics of IPT and be fully equipped to conduct IPT at the end of the course.  Level A is open to all interested clinicians at any level of training.  We suggest Interpersonal Psychotherapy: A Clinician's Guide (2nd Edition) as reading prior to the training.  All participants will receive a Level A certificate upon completion of the course.

About the Instructor

Scott Stuart, MD is a psychiatrist and a Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology in the Departments of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa (USA). He has been active in clinical work, education and research in the areas of Interpersonal Psychotherapy and perinatal psychiatry during the last two decades. Dr. Stuart completed his medical training at the University of Kansas, followed by internship at the University of Pittsburgh. He has received several teaching awards, including the John Clancy Teacher of the Year Award (Department of Psychiatry of the University of Iowa). He is the Director of the Interpersonal Psychotherapy Institute, and has authored a number of articles on IPT, including textbook Interpersonal Psychotherapy: A Clinician’s Guide. He also co-directs the Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center with Dr. Michael O’Hara.
